CHICAGO, Illinois (November 17, 2020) — Brilliant®, an award-winning direct-hire, contract and consulting practice specializing in accounting, finance and technology, released its 2021 Salary Guides—one for accounting and finance roles; one for technology positions.
The Brilliant 2021 Accounting and Finance Salary Guide includes base salary information from entry through c-level positions among 12 categories including corporate accounting, corporate finance, financial systems, internal audit/SOX, tax, treasury, financial reporting, project management, AP/AR, payroll, credit & collections, and billing.

Despite the COVID-19 global pandemic and record unemployment rates, Brilliant expects a flat-to-small increase in salaries (1.5% average increase for accounting & finance and 2% average increase for technology) in 2021.
Brilliant President, Kathy Spearing, explains, “The demand for accounting, finance and technology professionals will continue into 2021. Some of the roles may look a little differently, but we still anticipate a strong next 12 months.” Spearing continues, “As the business world continues to shift, the most sought-after accounting and finance profile will include a strong, critical-thinking skillset mixed with an empathic approach. And as the need for digital transformation and connectivity in the world continues, technology professionals will remain in high demand.”
As for the methodology in determining the salaries, Brilliant considered company size, experience level, certifications, demand of the role, figures from last year, current market intel, and competitor analysis.
The salaries published are based on the Greater Chicago market where Brilliant is headquartered. Variations on salaries for other U.S. markets can be calculated at the information found within each Appendix.
Brilliant CEO, Sheldon Schur, adds, “As a professional services provider, Brilliant is dedicated to keeping professionals updated with the crucial information they need to make sound business decisions and hiring choices. We anticipate an increase in salaries for accounting, finance and technology professionals, across many job functions and levels, in 2021.”
