The award-winning recruiting, consulting and direct-hire firm expects salaries to spike for accounting, finance and technology roles within the Midwest and Southeast US labor markets in the coming year

CHICAGO, Illinois (December 1, 2021) Brilliant®, an award-winning direct-hire, contract and consulting practice specializing in accounting, finance, audit, tax and technology, published multiple 2022 Salary Guides this week for various roles and markets.

The Brilliant 2022 Accounting and Finance Midwest Salary Guide includes base salary information for entry-level through c-suite positions within the Greater Chicago area across nine categories including corporate accounting, corporate finance, financial systems, internal audit/SOX, tax, treasury, financial reporting, project management and operational accounting. Many roles are expected to increase on an average of 4%-7% over the salaries from 2021. As a result, the candidate pool has once again tightened, resulting in numerous hiring challenges for businesses.

The Brilliant 2022 Accounting and Finance Southeast Salary Guide covers similar categories as the Midwest accounting and finance version but for the Fort Lauderdale/Miami area with many of the roles, especially at the staff level, expected to increase significantly from this year—in some cases 10%-15% higher. The South Florida market continues to see a significant influx of new residents moving into the area from all parts of the U.S., Europe and Latin America. As a result, salaries are spiking to compete in attracting and retaining top tier professionals.

The Brilliant 2022 Technology Salary Guide covers base salaries from entry-level through c-suite positions across 10 categories including database administration; QA and testing; internet and e-commerce; networking and telecommunications; security; software development; technical services, help desk and support; administration; applications development; and consulting and systems integration. As tech trends shift due to the evolving workforce, the need for specialized technology experts grows. Having a largely remote workforce means that businesses are competing for widespread talent across the U.S., and businesses are investing high amounts in securing and retaining tech resources across a multitude of roles.

Brilliant CEO Sheldon Schur explains, “The labor market has undoubtedly experienced some major changes over the past 18 months, but the transformations that have occurred over the past 10 months have been even more significant.” Schur continues, “We are seeing professionals juggle multiple offers causing business leaders to adjust their strategy—specifically when it comes to pay increases, retention bonuses and increased benefits due to the Great Resignation.”

Brilliant is dedicated to keeping corporate professionals, hiring managers and human resources managers up to date with information affecting the labor market and their professions.

To determine the salaries, Brilliant considered company size, experience level, certifications, demand of the role, proprietary research, market trends and competitive analysis. Salaries are divided into three categories: low, mid and high ranges to take into account the various factors.

Salaries for other major U.S. cities outside of the Midwest and Southeast locations can be calculated with the information found in each guide’s Appendix.
