CHICAGO, Illinois (September 5, 2014)—Brilliant™, a search, staffing and management resources firm specializing in the accounting, finance and IT professions, recently awarded two students from Northern Illinois University (NIU) with its 2014-2015 Brilliant™ Financial Search Scholarships.
Jeremy Fricke and Alexis Rodriguez, both upper-level accountancy majors at NIU in DeKalb, Illinois, were selected as recipients of the annual scholarship award.
Each student will receive $2,000 for the upcoming 2014-15 school year.
“It is an honor and a privilege to receive the Brilliant™ Financial Search accountancy scholarship. I have worked extremely hard at NIU to complete my Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy. [Brilliant’s] generosity is very much appreciated as I strive to graduate with honors in December 2014,” says Fricke.
Rodriguez adds, “I’m very humbled for the receipt of this award. This award will allow me to further continue my studies, and it will drive me to work even harder in achieving my educational goals.”
The scholarships were presented at the Beta Alpha Psi/Accountancy Alumni Awards Banquet in the Holmes Student Center on NIU’s campus, Sept., 3, 2014.
Brilliant CEO Jim Wong, CPA (Inactive) presented the scholarship awards to both students.
“It’s a privilege to present these young men with resources to support their accountancy studies. The profession is in need of eager and talented individuals. I know they both have great careers ahead.” Wong continues, “23 years ago, I received this award from the NIU Accountancy Program. To be able to reciprocate this year after year, on behalf of my own company is an honor.”
The scholarship recipients are selected by the NIU Accountancy Department Awards Committee and are based off of various academic criteria.
