CHICAGO, Illinois (September 1, 2021)— Brilliant®, an award-winning direct-hire, contract and consulting practice specializing in accounting, finance, audit, tax and technology, is celebrating its 12th anniversary this month by launching a corporate social responsibility (CSR) program.
Since the firm’s inception in 2009, Brilliant has made considerable efforts to be socially conscious with regards to the environment, economy and society overall—often volunteering and dedicating time, money and resources to local nonprofit organizations.
With the global crisis of the past year and a half impacting so many, Brilliant recognized the urgency to formalize its initiatives moving forward. As a result, an internal CSR committee was established with Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, Laurie Vicente, CSMP, as chair, and nine other team members from all divisions and markets.
Through a strategic, ethical and professional approach, Brilliant’s CSR committee is focusing efforts in three areas:
- Environmental—reducing waste, reducing carbon footprint through technology and recycling
- Philanthropic—volunteering time, offering donations and hosting various drives
- Social—focusing efforts on diversity and inclusion hiring programs
Brilliant CEO, Sheldon Schur, explains, “Prioritizing CSR is not only important for the greater good but for transforming our corporate business model as a whole. I know with our renewed focus on social responsibility we can improve our operational effectiveness. We really want to have a meaningful impact on those around us near and far.”
Vicente adds, “Our goal is to align our CSR efforts and activities with our purpose, strategy and values. As we celebrate 12 years in business, and after experiencing the global pandemic, we believe it is an appropriate time to launch such a program.”
Brilliant plans to make donations to local organizations at varying levels with each new placement, project and assignment throughout the year, as well as continue to dedicate time and resources to underserved populations. Further, the firm plans to educate others on the importance of diversity and inclusion within today’s hiring process and incorporate enhanced practices into our business.
