Job Description:
A growing services organization is seeking a strong Payroll Manager to join its progressive corporate accounting team. The Payroll Manager will report to the Controller and will be responsible for oversight of payroll services to multiple locations and support functions with a focus on driving best practices and process improvements within all areas of payroll.
 
Responsibilities:
 
Direct all day-to-day payroll processing and reporting in accordance with all federal, state and local tax laws, and corporate policies and procedures
Ensure payroll tax reporting and remittance are timely and in compliance with applicable tax laws and all payroll accounts are reconciled timely and accurately
Evaluate and document business procedures related to payroll processes and ensure payroll employees are properly trained
Develop and implement payroll department structure and processes to increase the efficiency of the department while establishing/maintaining an effective internal control structure, with self-audit procedures that will ensure the consistent application of payroll policies
Develop a highly skilled and well-trained staff (provide appropriate training, coaching and career opportunities) to ensure the efficient and effective support to the business
Responsible for understanding incentive and benefit plans, as well as relevant Human Resource payroll-related policies in order to ensure that payments and expenses are accurate and appropriate
 
Qualifications:
 
Bachelor&39;s degree in accounting, finance, or related business discipline preferred
At least 5 years of experience in payroll and at least 2 years of payroll management experience
Excellent communication and facilitation skills - capable of executing through others (influence vs. control)
Resilient in a fast-paced, changing environment
Demonstrated change/project management skills - can effectively lead projects by establishing priorities, building and executing project plans, and delivering on commitments
Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve and use technology to improve the efficiency of the team
Proven ability of implementing best practices in a shared services environment
Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience with developing, implementing, managing, and monitoring effective internal controls
