Brilliant gives back.
PHILANTHROPY | COMMUNITY | FOUNDATIONS
Brilliant’s mission is to make people’s lives better and that includes our clients, candidates, colleagues— and our communities!
We work with various local charities in both the greater Chicago area and south Florida to help those in need improve their quality of life. Whether they are homeless, underserved, undernourished or suffering in any capacity, we want to make a difference and be a positive influence in their lives.
Brilliant has teamed up with organizations such as A Safe Haven, Make a Wish Foundation Southern Florida, Sam Ella Hope Center, and others, to make an impact across the nation and the world.
Ronald McDonald House
The Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is a home environment that provides support and resources for families of sick children under the age of 21, and is located close to hospitals and doctors to better accommodate the families’ needs. As part of the graduation component of BrilliantU’s professional development program SOARING, select team members visited the Ronald McDonald House in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood close to the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago to cook and serve lunch to the families staying in the facility. The day was filled with emotion, compassion and fulfillment. For more information about RMHC visit https://www.rmhc.org/.
A Safe Haven Foundation
A Safe Haven Foundation is a social enterprise that helps people aspire, transform and sustain their lives as they transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency with pride and purpose. Some of the populations served include military veterans, families, non-violent criminal justice impacted populations, as well as men, women and children.
Since 2015, Brilliant has participated in at least one Safe Haven event a year, including:
- A Brilliant-organized Holiday Party for women and children of A Safe Haven which included cookie decorating, create-your-own ornaments, ring toss games, a hot chocolate bar and more winter activities,
- Volunteering at the Chicago Auto Show to collect canned goods for the families of A Safe Have
- A Summer Activity Day for Safe Haven residents and families, which included fun games, sports, face painting, and other summer activities. Learn more here.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation
Make-A-Wish believes in the power of a child’s wish. They make life better for kids with life-threatening medical conditions. Starting with one boy’s wish of owning a computer, the organization has now grown to grant a wish every 16 hours. Granting wishes takes hundreds of individuals and entities that are committed to making a difference. Brilliant’s Greater Chicago and Fort Lauderdale locations have been active partners of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, including volunteer/sponsorships experiences such as the Walk For Wishes 5K and the Wishes Uncorked event.
The Sam Ella Hope Center
The Sam Ella Hope Center provides HOPE in the West Englewood area of Chicago, for girls and women – offering spiritual guidance, occupational and educational assistance, and mentorship that will lead them to a brighter future. In the spring of 2018, Brilliant volunteered in updating the landscape and building an exterior fencing around the Hope Center.
StreetWise is a workforce development agency that provides the homeless and those at risk of homelessness in Chicago with opportunities for gainful self-employment, in order to guide them on the road to stability and self-sufficiency. For close to 20 years, StreetWise has allowed individuals in crisis immediate access to a legitimate earned income. In 2018, Brilliant was a proud sponsor of StreetWise’s The COOL Party, which is an annual benefit and celebration of the StreetWise organization and all of the successes that have evolved within it.
Brilliant has volunteered at various pantries and non-profit entities over the past years.
The Fuller Center | Bridget’s Puerto Rico Trip
Our Brilliant colleague and Sr. Financial Search Manager, Bridget Walsh embarked on a charitable journey this January. She traveled with the Fuller Center organization to Barrio Calzada, Maunabo, Puerto Rico, which was tragically affected by Hurricane Maria last year. The area had no power for eight months and no running water for three months, and some were left with no homes. Throughout her two weeks in the area, Bridget worked tirelessly to help rebuild homes that had been destroyed. Take a look at the video above to get a closer look on Bridget’s efforts in Puerto Rico.
